Ōrākei sits on a peninsula about five kilometres east of the city, with the Waitematā Harbour to the north, Hobson Bay to the west and the Ōrākei Basin to the south. With water on three sides, hedges and trees here often have two jobs: giving shelter and privacy without blocking the view.
